More beautiful transformations

Its difficult to be faced with the notion that I ought to specialise in one genre of photography.  I don't want to, I like it all.  Well, weddings are my least favourite.  I don't mind doing them for people through word of mouth but I have to really want to do it.

The Wonderland makeovers that I have been doing of late are actually something I could pigeon-hole myself into.  Its so lovely to see a girl walk in the studio - your everyday girl doing her everyday thing, you know?  That is, until we swoosh her up with colour and volumise her flowing locks into a goddess - a vision.....a dream.  I particularly like creating dreamy, floaty frocks for her to wear and feel special in...... to dress up and drift away from the everyday routine.

If I may indulge, this image happens to be my favorite ever from my Wonderland Makeovers of late - no need for big grins or smiles.  Just natural beauty with striking features and a bit of frou frou.

A card for the boys

I'm such a girl when it comes to cards and I struggle hugely with men's and boys cards. In fact, if I am truthful, I always buy cards for the men in our family.  **shock horror**

Anyway, As I was chatting to a pal on the phone tonight, I happily made my hands busy making this - at the same time.  The papers are from Basic Grey from about 73645754624 years ago but I like them still.  I can't say that about many patterned papers from yesteryear - some of them are completely hideous.

Have you seen the time?  Its 0330......Ive been up all night making another tulle skirt for yest another Wonderland makeover at the studio.

lightening the mood

Ugh, its been a bit rough round these parts but there is NOTHING like a bit of pink to make your heart sing. 

When I die, I demand to be bound in pink ribbon with a pretty little bow at the end.

As I have barely bought a ton of stash of late, Ive used old findings.  Well, I say old.  Ahem!  That chevron embossing plate is from Diesires at Crafters Companion and the washi tapes are from, erm....don't know.  **awkward**

I feel so much better already.

I think Steven Spielbergs need not worry

Ive never shot video footage of people before.  Craft sessions, yes but............people?  Oooooh no!  I needed to get a promo video out there, for my website, and so last week I made one.

The cutting and the pauses and the transitions and adding music took AGES...for a lousy 2 minutes and 22 second video.  But I DID IT!

And here she is.  Hope you like it..... the music is delicious.

Loving what I do

I love my creative time - when I find it. Lucky for me, I found some time and this week I sat myself down and created some more samples for my demo's with Woodware and Stix 2.  They are a marriage made in heaven and clearly make my creative heart sing.

This hyacinth stamp is BEAUTIFUL and had me intricately cutting out the gaps between the blooms.  "Therapeutic" sprung to mind and I was so proud of myself for not chopping a finger off with a surgical blade.  I used approx 3.2 million miniscule 3d foam pads from Stix 2 (have you seen them? They literally are the size of amoeba and great for tight little spaces).

And this delicious little Noahs Ark stamp, again - from Woodware, had me cutting and colouring and masking for AGES.  I decoupaged the stamp, used Spectrum Noir pens to colour it in and then used Stix 2's incredible masking sheets to colour the backdrop and create the clouds.  YOU MUST ask your craft stockists to get these masking sheets in....they are fantastic.  This stamp would make a great nursery wall hanging, too.

And finally......
I had a promo Wonderland makeover shoot yesterday with Kathryn.  Watching her transformation was incredible.  I made a no-sew frock for her, Billy gave her a gorgeous makeover and I filmed snippets of it for a promo video.  Here are some of my faves:

The no sew dress consists of a body slip (£5), a no sew tulle skirt which is tied into elastic (£8.50), an organza cummerbund - which I knotted at the back) (20p) and a clip on flower (£2).  Who needs Valentino frocks for makeovers? Well, they would be super as he is my fave designer but I dont have a budget of £4735627456 for those frothy frocks!

Anyway ........This is Kathryn, on the left before we gave her a little frosting on the right.

We tried lots of props for some magical, dreamlike moments

She is a wonderful girl - Billy and I adored her

And then a little boudoir which creates a little drama without unnecessary over exposure.

All in all, its been a great week.

More little sprouts

I love watching little sprouts, erm, sprout!
I get to watch one of the most beautiful things in life, happen before my eyes.  And seeing how much Finley has grown just makes my ovaries dance with hyperactive glee.

This is Finley at 1 week old - all new, pink, downy haired, crinkly skinned and fast asleep.  And when we lifted him up from this shot, he had left us a very nice parcel.  A sweet little code brown ;)

BUT NOW?  The monster within has been unleashed in the form of wriggly Fin!  Just look at how simply DELICIOUS he is....oh my!

 Us northerners like our flat caps.  All that is missing is a pint of mild and a whippet.

I honestly have fallen in love with this little fella.  His Momma had a spell of caring for Ellie at one point.  She is a lovely, lovely girl.

Ok, I've had enough.  Where's my milk?

Transformations

I believe every woman and girl deserves a Wonderland experience at my studio.  Dreamsicle frocking-up, pretty make up and delicious hair with images that make you feel like a million dollars.  And I kid you not but every girl that comes to the studio are nervous as hell thinking they'd never be able to own images worthy of a magazine shoot.

OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH!

Then every girl leaves completely delighted with an array of images to paw over and show off to their friends and family....pointing and saying "That's me! .......LOOK!  It's really me".

Clair was no exception yesterday.  She was really nervous.  Life is not being centre stage when you are a working mum and used to being the backbone of daily life.  Us girls take very little time for something like this.....I totally get that nervousness.  But as we go along with each pose and snap, I share the images on my play back and the nerves simply melt away.   When they can see the transformation unfolding, a sense of confidence envelops them and the session starts to get more fun.
